Mireille Hayek, or “Em Sherif”, passion for cooking began when she got married and had to cook for her family. She realized that she was talented and was encouraged by her brother Dany Chaccour and her Husband Salim Hayek to open her first restaurant in Lebanon in 2006 called “La Parrilla”. The success of her first restaurant led to the opening of a second restaurant concept in 2009 “Yasmina”, an Indian fusion restaurant, named after her daughter. Both restaurants reflected the highest quality in service and culinary arts, which then led to opening her crown jewel in 2011 “Em Sherif”, named after her son. Since then they have worked together on all their restaurant projects, the brother managing the business and the sister in front of the house. She says: “He is the head and I am the heart”. Her main aim is to become a landmark in authentic oriental cuisine worldwide.

I had no idea Em Sherif was opening in Kuwait so I was pretty surprised to find out they had recently opened up. Em Sherif is an upscale fine dining Lebanese restaurant that offers a set menu for lunch and dinner. I’ve been to their Dubai location and it’s always a fantastic experience with really amazing food accompanied by a beautiful interior and mood. In Kuwait they opened up at Palms and costs KD25 per person.

Beirut's Em Sherif opens doors in Downtown Dubai
he restaurant overlooks the Dubai Fountains and the Burj Khalifa, and is owned and founded by Mireille Hayek, beter known as 'Em Sherif'. The concept was designed to resemble an antique Lebanese mansion, decorated with souvenirs of the Oriental world. The decor also sees Hayek’s own personal touches to create a community and family environment. "I believe everyone deserves to taste good food, and I get no greater joy then when I see satisfied guests in my restaurants," says Hayek. "At Em Sherif, our food and service will always be of the highest quality, and I aim to make Em Sherif a landmark for authentic oriental cuisine globally, starting with Dubai. The luxury-dining scene in this city is booming however there are not many local landmarks when it comes to fine Oriental cuisine. "Our guests will enjoy an exceptional experience, starting with the welcoming and attentive service through to the authentic Oriental dishes and unique entertainment, which combined will make quite an experience to remember." The brand is planning to expand to Saudi Arabia next.
