Starbucks Opens Newly Refurbished Marina Crescent Store

Kuwait, 2013 - Starbucks has welcomed customers to its newly refurbished store at the Marina Crescent, marking once again the company’s commitment to offering customers an incomparable experience while enjoying a perfect cup of Starbucks coffee. Commenting on the exciting new look, Rana Shaheen, regional communications and CSR manager at Starbucks MENA, said: “It gives us great joy to present our customers with the redesigned Marina Crescent store, one of a series of Starbucks store renovations taking place this year. These renovations are driven by our passion to inspire our customers through offering the exceptional Starbucks taste in new and exquisite settings which reflect cultural elements of the local community." Starbucks unveils new look for Marina Mall store

Kuwait, May 14th , 2013 -- Starbucks has opened the doors of its newly refurbished store at Marina Mall, reaffirming its commitment to bring customers in Kuwait the best coffee experience. The new look combines class and comfort to provide coffee lovers with a refreshing space to relax and enjoy their meals and beverages. It is completely custom-made from furniture and fabrics to equipment, artwork and details. Commenting on the renovation, Rana Shaheen, regional communications and CSR manager at Starbucks MENA, said: “We are very pleased to open the doors of our redesigned Marina Mall store and bring the high-end coffee experience closer to our customers. Nestlé Toll House New Branch at Marina Crescent

Nestlé Toll House Cafe by Chip, today announced the opening of its second newest branch at the Marina Crescent, Salmiya. The brand is well-known for its high-quality cookies and coffee. To be honest, I have always loved their chocolate chip cookies. They come in all shapes and sizes and textures as well. The new location is much bigger and looks more modern. Nestlé Toll House plans to open more locations throughout Kuwait in the near future. The cafe will be officially opened for public tomorrow at 7PM.

Pizza Express and Pinkberry now open

Both the Pizza Express and Pinkberry branches at the Marina Crescent are now open. The Pizza Express branch looks to have an updated new look compared to the Pizza Express branches at the airport and Avenues. The Pinkberry branch at the Crescent makes it the second Pinkberry branch there since there’s already another one near the fountain inside the mall.

Kei hasn’t shut down

Contrary to the rumors, Kei hasn’t shutdown and moved out of Marina Crescent. What’s happened is they’ve just reduced the size of the place by half and sold the other half to Caribou Coffee. I think that’s actually a good move since their Marina Crescent branch was fairly over-sized and I like my sushi places small and cozy. There is no opening date yet but for your Kei fix you can still visit their JW Marriott location.

Caribou Cafe Marina Mall

يبدو أن كاريبوا كافيه سيفتتح فرعا جديد له في مجمع المارينا مول وتحديدا في الواجهة البحرية (كريسنت) وسيحل محل مطعم ياباني (لا أتذكر اسمه) وستكون هناك منافسة بينه وبين الكافيه الاخر الذي يبعد عنه أمتار قليلة وهو كوستا!

Closed for renovation

I took the picture above outside Costa at Marina Crescent but I’ve noticed quite a few restaurants have also closed down during Ramadan for renovations. I never liked that Costa branch since I found it too bright and uncomfortable. I’m not a fan of coffee shops anyway but I do prefer the cozy feel I get from Starbucks.

No alcohol at The Chocolate Bar

Just like the Gucci rumor I posted about a few days ago, there is another rumor going around that The Chocolate Bar in Marina Crescent was closed down by the ministry because they found chocolate that contained alcohol in them. That is of course not true or else I would have been their #1 customer. The Chocolate Bar at Marina was closed down due to renovations and all their other branches are still open for business.

First Impression: Totally Fish

Although Totally Fish has been open in Marina Crescent for two years now I never passed by to try it. It was one of those places I kept hearing negative stuff about mostly that it was too expensive and that the food wasn’t really good. But last night I felt like having seafood and decided to pass by Totally Fish since it was nearby. I was with Nat and we ended up ordering Salmon Croquette and Prawns Cake for appetizer while for the main course she had a Salmon dish while I had Balloul. The appetizers were pretty ordinary and we wouldn’t order them again. We also didn’t like our main courses that much, Nats salmon had too many flavors, none of which was Salmon while my Balloul was just really forgettable. The biggest surprise was the fact that the prices weren’t expensive at all. The Salmon Croquette was around KD1.500, while the Prawns Cake around KD2.500. The Salmon was for KD6.750 while the Balloul was KD6.500. The portions were also surprisingly big. Even though we didn’t enjoy any of the dishes I am still going to go back. Its common to order the wrong dishes the first time at a place and since their location is good, the staff friendly and the prices very reasonable, they are worth a second visit.
