AZADEA Group to launch 23 stores in Reem Mall

UAE-based lifestyle retailer AZADEA Group is set to open 23 stores in Abu Dhabi’s Reem Mall to cement its position in the Middle East. As part of AZADEA’s expansion, Calzedonia, Deichmann, Flying Tiger Copenhagen and Intimissimi all opened their first Abu Dhabi stores late last month, while Mood, Reserved, Salsa, and Tezenis will each open debut units imminently. COO of AZADEA Group, Walid Chahine, said: “This new major development in Abu Dhabi represents a key milestone in our expansion strategy in the emirate. “We exist to provide our customers with an entertaining and exciting way of life and are undergoing a promising growth phase in the region. Abu Dhabi continues to maintain its position as a leading destination for shopping and attractions with the launch of differentiated projects such as Reem Mall that provide residents and tourists with several leisure, entertainment, and retail options.” Among the other brands that either recently opened or are set to open in the coming weeks are: Bershka, Boggi Milano, Decathlon, Eataly, KIKO Milano, Mango, Massimo Dutti, PAUL, Pull&Bear, Oysho, Sunglass Hut, Urban Outfitters and Virgin Megastore. The new brands make up a total footprint of 12,800 square metres of Reem Mall which is scheduled to fully open this quarter or the next quarter. COO of Reem Mall, Steve Bunce, said: “We are thrilled to witness the growing presence of our tenants as they open their stores and restaurants at Reem Mall. “We are delighted to have AZADEA – one of the region’s leading retail and leisure groups with a prominent presence in the development – on board. We eagerly anticipate the response of our customers to the new stores, which started to roll out at the end of last month.” Since its inception in 1978, the Group has developed more than 700 retail stores representing 37 international brands in areas such as fashion and accessories, home furnishings, sporting goods and beauty & cosmetics. AZADEA Group operates across 13 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Cyprus.

Azadea Opens First Eataly in Riyadh, KSA

Azadea Group opens the first Eataly in Riyadh, KSA. The opening, one of several planned for the brand in the Middle East, comes after three incredibly successful years for Eataly in the UAE. Eataly was first introduced in the Middle East through Azadea Group. The response to Eataly’s first two stores in the region has been tremendously positive, which is why the Azadea Group has expanded this brand to the sophisticated Saudi market. Eataly is a chain of high-end Italian market/restaurants featuring food and beverage stations, as well as bakery and retail items. Eataly was conceived to disprove the assumption that quality products are available for only a limited circle of privileged people, as they are often expensive or difficult to find. The brand includes a number of small-scale companies operating in different sectors of the food world: from the famous Gragnano durum wheat pasta and fresh egg pasta from the Langhe, to extra virgin olive oil produced in western Liguria balsamic vinegar from Modena, as well as traditional Piemontese and other Italian salami and cheese.

UAE: first Middle Eastern Eataly franchise opens in Dubai

DUBAI - High-end food market chain Eataly on Monday inaugurated its Dubai emporium, the first in the Middle East for the renowned and successful exporter of Italian quality, atmosphere, and philosophy of eating and life. A cut to the red-white-and-green fresh pasta ribbon gave access to the 2,000-square-meter store inside Dubai Mall, with 2,000 products and five restaurants on offer. ''We have brought Dubai the Italy we most care about, a quality Italy that is not just about pasta and pizza but also that of sophisticated hand-crafted products and regional excellence,'' Eataly concept creator Oscar Farinetti told ANSAmed. After its flagship store in Turin in 2007, Eataly went on to open 20 more in Italy and abroad, including Chicago, New York and Tokyo, with Istanbul to follow in December. The Dubai market replicates the successful Eataly format, calibrating the choice of products and ingredients with a respect for Koranic precepts without compromising the distinctive Italian-ness of the concept. ''Eataly's challenges abroad include saying no to the cannibalization of production and keeping our cuisines solidly anchored in their identity'', explained CEO Luca Baffigo Filangieri. ''It is possible to export made-in-Italy haute gastronomy, just as it is possible to export made-in Italy couture'', he added. The outlook is positive for Eataly in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where ''food and agriculture is a growth sector, just like Italian exports overall'', commented Italian Ambassador to the UAE Giorgio Starace. ''The entrepreneurial genius of Oscar Farinetti and of Eataly cannot but make a significant contribution to the consumption of these great products, in these markets'', he added. Eataly's Middle Eastern adventure was launched thanks to its partnership with the Beirut, Lebanon-based AZADEA Group, a retail holding company that operates a portfolio of more than 50 international franchise concepts, and which coordinated the company's entry into the Gulf area.
