In July 2003, Chef Thomas Keller opened the doors of his first Bouchon Bakery. Located in Yountville, California, alongside Keller’s Bouchon Bistro and just down the road from The French Laundry, Bouchon Bakery was first conceived as a way to provide these restaurants with one-of-a-kind breads. Quickly, the bakery blossomed into an important establishment in its own right. In the style of classic French boulangeries, the bakery features a wide selection of artisanal breads and classic desserts inspired by Chef Keller’s memories of life in France, as well as his own childhood in the United States. Blending traditional techniques with the science of bread making, the breads of Bouchon Bakery meet Chef Keller’s exacting standards. Pastry chef Nicholas Bonamico makes an array of sweet delights including classic Viennoiserie, such as croissants and pain au chocolat, breakfast items like muffins and coffee cakes as well as an ever-changing selection of tarts, cookies and other treats. The bakery also offers a full range of espresso drinks and coffee, custom-blended by Chef Keller’s longtime partner Equator Coffee Roasters. For guests interested in enjoying a full meal, Bouchon Bakery offers savory items like sandwiches, soup, salads and quiche. From its inception, the bakery has served as a gathering place in the heart of the Napa Valley for residents and visitors alike. All of Bouchon Bakery’s offerings are available to be carried out or can be enjoyed in the adjacent, tree-shaded courtyard.

Thomas Keller Is Opening a Bouchon Bakery in Dubai

Michelin-starred fine-dining chef Thomas Keller is expanding Bouchon Bakery to the Middle East, the National reports. In partnership with Kuwait-based franchise operator MH Alshaya Co., Keller is opening a Bouchon Bakery in Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Residence later this year, followed by locations in Kuwait and Qatar, according to a press release from MH Alshaya Co.The French Laundry chef opened the first Bouchon Bakery in 2003 in Yountville, California. Since then, the classic French bakery has expanded to New York, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, and now, Dubai. The Middle East Bouchon Bakeries aren’t the only empire expansion plans Keller has in the works: In 2018, the chef is set to open a restaurant at the Surf Club at the Four Seasons in Miami and the 200-seat TAK Room at New York’s Hudson Yards. The Dubai Bouchon Bakery will be Keller’s first project outside of the U.S. (not counting his cruise ship deals). In a press release from MH Alshaya Co., Keller said, “As we expand outside the United States, we are pleased to partner with Alshaya, which has a track record of successfully franchising international brands.
