Acquisition
FAT Brands buys Elevation Burger for $10M
FAT Brands Inc. has acquired Elevation Burger for $10 million funded through a combination of sellers’ notes and cash, the franchising company announced Thursday. Los Angeles-based FAT Brands, which owns the Fatburger concept and others, said the acquisition of Elevation Burger, a Falls Church, Va.-based chain and an early pioneer of the “healthful” organic burger, takes the parent company’s unit count to more than 400 restaurants worldwide. The fast-casual Elevation Burger, which was established in 2002, joins other FAT Brands such as Fatburger, Buffalo’s Café Hurricane Grill Wings and Yalla Mediterranean. In 2017, FAT Brands purchased the Ponderosa and Bonanza steakhouse brands for $10.5 million. Elevation Burger franchises 44 locations across the U.S. and internationally. And with this acquisition, FAT Brands said its annual systemwide sales will exceed $400 million. FAT Brands struck a deal in January with Steak ‘n’ Shake owner Sardar Biglari’s Lion Fund L.P. and The Lion Fund II L.P. to borrow $20 million for payment on its debt facility. The term loan matures on June 30, 2020, and interest is payable quarterly at an annual fixed rate of 20%. For the quarter ended March 31, FAT Brands swung to a loss of $710,000, or 6 cents a share, from a profit of $509,000, or 5 cents a share, in the same period last year. Total revenue in the quarter increased 35.9% to $4.9 million from $3.6 million in the year-ago period.

Elevation Burger Opening in Qurtoba
I have bad news and good news for Qurtoba. The good news being Elevation opening soon obviously, located right next to Burger King. The bad news is a source told me Pick Yo won’t be opening up and instead have decided to close their branch which is disappointing, I was planning to frequent that place like crazy being so close to home. The Pick Yo news isn’t 100% accurate but I guess I’ll have to settle with burgers instead of frozen yoghurt for the time being.

General at Alhamra Mall
Elevation Burger at Hamra Mall got Robbed
I found out about this today and have managed to confirm it with multiple sources. Saturday early morning around 2:30AM an unidentified person walked into Hamra Mall and headed up the service elevator towards the food court. He then walked towards Elevation Burger which was closed at that time and jumped over the counter and pretended he was an employee cleaning the place. Four hours later the unidentified person took the safe and wrapped it in a garbage bag before putting it on a trolley before casually rolling out with it from the mall. All of this was caught on CCTV and the police are currently investigating the robbery with the help of Al Hamra Mall security. Al Hamra Mall believe the unidentified person was an ex-Elevation employee while Elevation are denying that fact and instead believe he could have been an employee from any of the other places. I’m trying to get my hands on the CCTV footage but no luck so far.

Opening at Muscat Grand Mall
ELEVATION BURGER OPENS FIRST OUTLET AT MUSCAT GRAND MALL
Muscat - Elevation Burger, the international organic burger chain, opened its first outlet in Oman at Muscat Grand Mall (MGM). An event to mark the opening was held on Monday. The outlet is a joint venture between TABCo International Food Catering of Kuwait and Al Qema Food Catering of Oman. “Elevation Burger offers a casual experience with pleasant atmosphere and service, better menu options, and food made with the finest, freshest ingredients,” said Ali Ashkanani, managing director of TABCo International Food Catering. Ashkanani believes in the importance of ingredients. “Elevation Burger uses only 100 per cent United States Department of Agriculture-certified organic, grass-fed, free range, halal beef, in addition to heart-friendly ingredients. We grind the beef on our premises to offer customers a flavourful and nutritionally superior product,” he said. “Elevation Burger also offers French fries cooked in olive oil and hand-scooped milk shakes. The restaurant's warm and welcoming staff provide an exceptional dining experience to health-conscious diners and die-hard burger lovers. “We go to great lengths to ensure provenance of our ingredients, and we are progressing beyond the age of industrial agriculture to pursue a more sustainable and healthier future. We try to use sustainable materials in our restaurants whenever possible. We also use LED lights which reduce electricity consumption by 80 per cent.” Apart from Oman, Elevation Burger has outlets in Kuwait, Dubai, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Elevation Burger Opens Brand New Branch in Kuwait
What’s better than having a regular burger is having an organic one. It really does tastes ten times better than any other burger. Elevation Burger now have three branches in Kuwait that are located in Al-Hamra, The Avenues, and their latest branch in Abu Halaifa Menus Complex, recently opened on February 11. We were invited to the soft opening of Elevation Burger’s new branch at Abu Halaifa. The night was filled with amazing burgers along with great entertainment by Marina FM’s famous Ali Najem.

General at The Avenues - Phase 2
First Impression: Elevation Burger
Yesterday I finally got the chance to pass by Elevation Burger at The Avenues. I had heard from a friend that they’re always packed so I tried to pass by early and got there around 1:45 which clearly wasn’t early enough since the place was already full. Luckily I found one table clearing up in a corner and had Nat wait at the table while I ordered at the cashier. The interior is pretty dull and kinda reminds me of a food court which is fine since it’s more like an upscale fast food joint then a restaurant but one thing that really bothered me was the lack of proper ventilation. I quickly tweeted that and the owner of the place replied saying they’re working on it. That’s great because I already have a hard time getting Nat to go to a burger place yet alone a burger place that will also make her smell like burgers. I took a quick glance at the menu and right away knew what I was going to have. I ordered the Elevation Burger which is a double patty double cheese burger and added Elevation sauce to it, I also added a side order of french fries and a fountain drink. I took my receipt and went and waited for my order. A few minutes later my burger arrived and it looked really good. I quickly took my picture and then dug in. The burger was pretty thick, a lot thicker than it looks in the picture since after I picked up the burger I noticed the patty had slid down to the other side. Note to everyone, I love thick burgers. I took my first bite and in under a minute it was gone. I was originally worried the bun wouldn’t be soft enough but it was and it also did a good job of soaking up all the burger juice which there was a lot of. The beef patties were super greasy, by the time I was done with the burger there was a large pool of grease lying at the bottom of my plate. I thought the sauce could have been thicker since it was washing away with the grease but it might have been thick to start with and then got diluted with the grease I’m not sure. In any case the burger was good and I was considering ordering a second helping but since I still had my fries I decided not to. I’m not a fan of their fries and wouldn’t order them again. If you’re a fan of home made fries you’ll like the Elevation ones but the next time I’m there I’ll be skipping the fries and ordering a second burger instead. The main direct competitor for Elevation burger right now at the Avenues is Johnny Rockets but in a few months time it’s also going to be Shake Shack. Would I go back? Yes I would. It’s located in a convenient location, it’s a no frills in and out dinning place with good burgers. The biggest issue really is their ventilation which is getting fixed this week. Elevation Burger is located outside in Avenues Phase II, on the top floor.

Upcoming Opening at The Avenues - Phase 2
Elevation Burger (US) to Open in Kuwait
24 Jun 2010 - Northern Virginia-based Elevation Burger will be opening its first Middle Eastern outlet in October in the Avenues Mall in Kuwait. The Avenues Mall is Kuwait's largest mall and one of the Middle East's premier retail and leisure destinations. The mall opened in April 2007, and is located in Kuwait's Al Rai District. Elevation Burger will join more than 100 restaurants, including other American brands such as PF Chang?s, Dean & DeLuca, Starbucks and La Pain Quotidien. ?This is a great step in expanding the Elevation Burger vision internationally and ideally more and more of our locations will be developed in projects like The Avenues," said Hans Hess, founder of Elevation Burger. ?We?ve received interest from entrepreneurs in other Middle Eastern countries, so we anticipate expansion elsewhere in the region in the very near future.? Elevation Burger executives expect to have a total of 15 to 20 restaurants operating by the end of 2010, with more than 60 total new restaurants in development. Fast Casual
