Acquisition
Alamar Foods Company has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100 percent of AlShaghaf Arabia LLC, also known as Cravia Arabia Company, the franchisee of Five Guys in Saudi Arabia. The transaction is valued at up to SAR85 million, subject to post-closing adjustments and performance conditions. Cravia Arabia holds the exclusive franchise rights for the brand in the Kingdom and operates 13 restaurants across Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Khobar. Alamar company said that the acquisition supports its strategy to enter the burger category within Saudi Arabia’s quick service restaurant market. Filippo Sgattoni, CEO of Alamar Foods, further shared: "The intended acquisition of Five Guys brand aligns directly with our strategy to expand into core categories, strengthen our market position, and drive profitable growth. By entering the premium burger segment with a globally recognised brand, we are broadening our multi-brand platform and unlocking attractive long-term potential. "With Alamar’s scale and operational expertise, we are well-positioned to elevate the Five Guys experience, enhance performance, and realise meaningful synergies. We thank Cravia Group for building a strong base for the brand in Saudi Arabia and look forward to advancing its next phase of growth under Alamar’s stewardship."

Five Guys opens in Dubai Festival City Mall
American fast casual restaurant chain, Five Guys has opened its ninth location in the UAE at Dubai Festival City Mall located at the Festival Bay. Since its entrance into the UAE market in 2015, Five Guys has seen a rapid and successful expansion trajectory, with the Dubai Festival City Mall location marking its ninth outlet in the country and eighth branch in Dubai. Commenting on the opening, Gary Turnbull, head of operations, Rise LLC, says, “We are delighted to open the latest UAE location in Festival City. Through working closely with Al-Futtaim, we have managed to secure a wonderful location that Festival City visitors can enjoy along with the many other attractions the mall has to offer. Opening
Jerry Murrell and his five sons, which is where the brand name comes from, started the brand with their first branch in Arlington, Virginia in 1986. The brand only operated five locations up until 2002 but that changed right after it started franchising in 2002. Five Guys grew to operate more than 1,000 stores in the USA alone after 2003. Murrell the father resisted the expansion and changing the dining experience for so many years because he wanted to maintain the original food and dine experience developed in his first branch. According to a 2012 Forbes article, Five Guys was the fastest growing burger chain in the US. According to the same Forbes article, Jerry Murrell, his wife, and his five sons own 75% of the Five Guys Holdings, LLC. Miller Investments owns 20% and few of Jerry Murrell friends own the remaining 5%. Five Guys started its international expansion in 2015 by launching new locations in Europe and the Middle East. The first store to launch in the Middle East was in Dubai Mall. The brand currently operates 9 locations in UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

Cravia opened Five Guys’ 2nd Branch in Riyadh & 3rd in KSA
On November 20, 2016, Cravia opened Five Guys’ 2nd Branch in Riyadh & 3rd in KSA on Prince Turki Bin Abdulaziz Al Awal Road, at the Boulevard Strip Mall. Even before the doors opened at 10:00 am, Five Guys fans were seen anxiously waiting to bite into the best burgers, fries, and milkshakes from early hours. The Boulevard branch can accommodate 250 people. It is the biggest Five Guys outlet across the world. More than 90 team members work together to ensure that everyone visiting Five Guys will have the best possible experience. What makes this branch even better and popular among all is the pleasant outdoor seating area. In 2017, Cravia is looking forward to opening additional Five Guys branches in the KSA, where we will strive to ensure excellence in service and taste to all the burger lovers across the Kingdom.
