Fawaz Alhokair's M&S deal in Saudi ends, still partners elsewhere

DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia’s Fawaz Abdulaziz Alhokair 4240.SE said on Wednesday its franchise agreement in the kingdom with British retailer Marks & Spencer (MKS.L) had ended, along with similar deals with a number of “non-performing” brands. Marks & Spencer (M&S) said in an email that its franchised stores in Saudi Arabia were transferred to Al-Futtaim Group in 2018. M&S has 15 franchised stores in Saudi Arabia. “We are focused on continuing to work with Al-Futtaim Group to develop and grow our business in Saudi Arabia,” M&S told Reuters. M&S still has a partnership with Alhokair in Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan, according to M&S’s website. M&S has more than 400 stores outside the United Kingdom, where it is a mainstay of shopping streets with more than 1,000 outlets. Its international business has been struggling, however, with revenues falling 14% and underlying operating profit down 6% in the year ended March 30, 2019. Alhokair also said on Wednesday it made a first-quarter net profit of 224 million riyals ($60 million), down 10.1% from the same period a year earlier. The firm, which owns franchise rights for brands including Mango, Zara and Banana Republic in the Middle East, said a decline in sales during the quarter was driven by the closure of non-performing stores and the disposal of weak brands as the group presses ahead with a “portfolio optimization strategy.”

احد افرع ماكدندونالدز السعودية الجديدة

شهدت الرياض والشرقية افتتاح ثلاثة فروع جديدة من مطاعم ماكدونالدز السعودية وتحديث وتجديد خمسة فروع أخرى لتنضم إلى سلسلة مطاعمها المنتشرة في السعودية والتي بلغت 98 مطعما فقد تم تدشين الفروع الثلاثة الجدد بمدينة الرياض: الأول فى مركز الرمال مول قرب مخرج 17، أما الفرع الثاني ففي حي المنار قرب مستشفى اليمامة وأخيرا الثالث في الحياة مول في المرسلات. ويأتي افتتاح هذه الفروع الثلاثة في وقت واحد فى اطار سياسة الانتشار المدروسة وفق المعايير التسويقية المحلية والعالمية والتى تنتهجها ماكدونالدز السعودية، وحرصها المستمر على ايصال خدماتها المتميزة، فى اجوائها المتفردة بالخصوصية والتنوع، وكذلك وفق معايير الجودة والخدمة العالية المعتادة في ماكدونادز السعودية منذ افتتاح اول فروعها في المملكة العربية السعودية عام 1993م. وامتدت يد التجديد والتحديث إلى الكثير من فروعها كان آخرها المطاعم الموجودة في شارع الضباب, وشارع الستين بحي الملز, وشارع إنكاس بالروضة وكلهم بالرياض، ومطعمى الدانه، وكورنيش الخبر، بالمنطقة الشرقية, وقد ركزت عمليات التجديد على الديكور العام للمطاعم بأقسامها الداخلية المختلفة التي تشمل قسم الأفراد وقسم العوائل, وقد حظيت منطقة ألعاب الأطفال باهتمام كبير, حيث تم تحديثها وإضافة ألعاب جديدة تتماشى مع مختلف الأعمار لزوار ماكدونالدز السعودية من الأطفال. وجاء هذا التحديث ليتوافق مع مختلف أذواق مرتادي مطاعم ماكدونالدز مع توفير أجواء تتميز بالهدوء والتنوع للأفراد مع الخصوصية للعوائل. الجدير بالذكر أن ماكدونالدز السعودية بدأت أعمالها عام 1993م في الرياض والشرقية وتعود ملكية وإدارة جميع مطاعم ماكدونالدز في المملكة العربية السعودية إلى كل من شركة الرياض العالمية للأغذية في المناطق الوسطى والشرقية والشمالية، التي يرأسها سمو الأمير مشعل بن خالد بن فهد آل سعود، وشركة رضا للخدمات الغذائية المحدودة في المنطقة الغربية، ومديرها العام عبد الرحمن علي رضا. وقد وصل عدد مطاعم ماكدونالدز فى المملكة العربية السعودية 98 مطعما منها 65 بمناطق الرياض، الشرقية والشمالية، والقصيم وحائل، و33 فى المنطقة الغربية.
